Digital screens give retailers the opportunity to inform and inspire customers at different moments during their store visit. But creating a digital signage setup involves more than just the screen and the content displayed on it.
The position of the screen, the flexibility of the setup, the finish of cables and equipment, and the stability and appearance of the overall solution all play a role. Several of these considerations came together during the rollout of more than 240 Flexline systems at Intratuin.
1. Decide where you want to reach your customers
The right position for a digital signage screen depends on what you want to communicate and at what point you want to reach visitors. A screen at the entrance, for example, serves a different purpose from one near a promotional display, hospitality area or inspiration route. So think not only about the content in advance, but also about the places in the store where that communication is relevant.

Intratuin as a practical example
At Intratuin, the screens are used at entrances, promotional displays, hospitality areas and inspiration routes, among other locations. They provide visitors with information about promotions, store information, seasonal campaigns, loyalty programmes and product inspiration.

2. Take a changing retail environment into account
The ideal position for a screen does not always remain the same. Promotions, seasons and displays change, and the place where you want to use digital communication may change with them. A freestanding screen setup offers more freedom than a solution that depends on a wall or another existing structure. The screen can be used wherever it is needed at that moment.
Intratuin as a practical example
For Intratuin, flexibility and freedom of placement were important requirements. That is why a freestanding Flexline solution with floor plate was chosen, allowing it to be used in different locations throughout the stores.
3. Keep technology out of sight as much as possible
A digital signage setup consists of more than just a screen. Power and data cables, as well as equipment such as a digital signage player, also need to be accommodated. By concealing this technology as much as possible in or behind the structure, the setup remains neat and the communication on the screen stays central.

With the ErgoXS Flexline, power and data cables can be concealed inside the column. A digital signage player can also be positioned behind the structure.
In a busy retail environment, a solid and stable construction is also important. After all, the screen setup is positioned in areas where many visitors pass by every day.

4. Match the setup to both the screen and the environment
Not every screen setup is suitable for every application. Before making a choice, consider both the screen you want to use and the environment in which the setup will be placed.
Consider, for example, the screen size and mounting options, the stability of the structure, how cables and other hardware are concealed, and the desired position in the store.
Appearance can also play a role. Especially when a screen is positioned in the middle of a store, the structure becomes part of the retail environment.
The Flexline combines several features for this purpose:
- freestanding placement with a stable floor plate;
- universal VESA mounting for different screen sizes;
- integrated cable management in the column;
- the option to position digital signage hardware out of sight;
- a robust and stable construction for use in busy retail environments.
Intratuin as a practical example
For Intratuin, the ability to use different screen sizes, the stable floor plate and the slim design were among the factors considered when choosing the Flexline.
From theory to practice: more than 240 systems for Intratuin
